Job Summary:

The Senior Director, Marketing, under the supervision of and accountable to the VP & Chief Innovation Officer, performs diversified duties to manage the system Marketing team. The Senior Director collaborates regularly with leadership colleagues in the division (like R&D, Enterprise Digital Health and the Creative Studio) and with leadership colleagues throughout the organization (like Service Lines, Communications, etc.).

The Marketing Department is part of the Innovation Division. The Division is home to R&D, Enterprise Digital Health & Ventures and the in-house Creative Studio. The Marketing Department:

  • Creates and executes growth marketing strategies for priority service lines, products and programs in a competitive environment
  • Delivers tactical marketing and advertising support for all services and programs as prioritized
  • Serves as the “front door” for creative services support for organizational clients (other Departments in the Division and Communications work directly with the Studio)
  • Leads brand strategy; and monitors and refines the brand positioning
  • Establishes and manages the global advertising budget
  • Manages relationships with agencies of record and any marketing consultants
  • Collaborates with R&D on the creation of new products, programs and services
  • Manages the utilization of the brand and collaborates with the Studio on the evolution of the brand
  • Plans, produces and delivers omnichannel marketing deliverables like broadcast TV, radio, email, digital display, OOH, experiential, etc.


  • Day-to-day management of the Department’s Directors
  • Development and execution annual operating plans for the department
  • Leading annual departmental strategic projects that seek to significantly advance departmental capability
  • Regular collaboration with organizational clients
  • Providing the organizational executive team with marketing insights and advice
  • Participation in high-value system strategic projects
  • Developing and maintaining expert knowledge of contemporary marketing techniques and technologies
  • Measurement and reporting of strategies and tactics
  • Management of the Departmental budget
  • Mentoring and growing Department staff


  • Healthcare and health insurance marketing skills, preferably with a similarly sized health system
  • At least 10 years of applicable healthcare marketing experience
  • A four-year degree (advanced degrees and certifications preferred)
  • Demonstrated mastery and ability to teach the breadth of omnichannel marketing
  • Prior experience implementing and managing enterprise CRM such as Salesforce
  • Expert knowledge of digital marketing techniques
  • Project planning skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Creative writing and copywriting for healthcare skills
  • Ability to work from home or in an office depending on the needs of the team
  • Ability to periodically travel
  • Public speaking skills and ability to speak about our work internally and externally
  • Experience working in a Lean-managed organization
  • A desire to learn and a willingness to set explicit goals for development
  • The willingness to think critically about the healthcare industry
  • The ability to both give and receive critique
