Senior Accountant
This is a remote/hybrid position (2-3 days in office per week)
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the core team to handle the overall accounting and tax functions for WellSpan Health
General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Controller of Corporate Finance and the Tax Director, performs a variety of accounting and tax functions in support of the organization's corporate accounting operations.
The following are essential job accountabilities:
- Month-end accounting: including journal entry preparation and posting, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation
- Balance sheet: preparation of accounting workpapers and account rollforwards, including standardization / process improvement
- Annual audit support: involvement with annual financial statement audits, ERISA audits, and Uniform Grant audits
- Assists finance team with implementation of best practices, document management, process improvement, and overall compliance efficiencies
- Assist tax team with annual corporate tax compliance functions, including data gathering, workpaper preparation, and tax return preparation.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree – Accounting / Finance
Minimum Experience 2+ years (public accounting is a plus)
**The ideal candidate does not need expertise in all the essential job functions listed above but must demonstrate the desire to grow into the role.
Proficient with Microsoft products (primarily Excel)
Prior healthcare experience is a plus
GAAP accounting research / position papers
Prior tax preparation experience is a plus
Experience with Lawson and/or Oracle is a plus
Experience with ProSystem fx (CCH) is a plus
Pref Cert/Registration Certified Public Accountant, or seeking certification
CPA preparation material and exam reimbursement available
