General Summary:

 


Coordinates patient care activities for respiratory patients as required by EME Medical Equipment policies and procedures as well as The Joint Commission requirements. Is responsible to carry out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of EME to all internal and external customers. Performs equipment downloads and forwards information to physician offices.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 


1 Coordinates CPAP/BiPAP intakes from referral sources to include: entering new patient demographics into Brightree; entering new patient demographics into CPAPbuilder.com; performing insurance verification and obtaining authorization number, if needed; addressing initial orders within 1 business day and tracking orders throughout the process to completion; assuring that all supporting documentation includes sleep studies, face to face notes, and physician orders are present; scheduling equipment set-up in conjunction with the Manager of Respiratory & Clinical Services and staff therapists.
2 Assisting with coordination of repairs on patient owned CPAP/BiPAP equipment, along with CSRs, as needed.
3 Processes direct drop-ship orders of CPAP supplies by working the system (medSage) daily, verifying the insurance, processing the order, assuring delivery, and sending all completed paperwork to the billing office to bill.
4 Receives delivery ticket and Customer Service paperwork for new oxygen setups, copies and distributes to the Respiratory Therapists for follow up. Sends all paperwork to billing. Also receives copies of 02 order changes and distributes to a Respiratory Therapist for follow up with patient.
5 Schedules and tracks the ApneaLink to completion. Completes paperwork and sends report to ordering doctor.
6 Performs and tracks the WristOx to completion. Completes paperwork and sends report to ordering doctor.
7 Downloads CPAP units as needed and forwards the downloads to the physician.
8 Provides daily and monthly statistics in regards to work performed.
9 Attends and participates in Respiratory Therapy and EME staff meetings. On occasion, will be required to attend the Sleep Apnea Support Group meetings.
10 Files paperwork in the appropriate files in a timely manner and keeps files organized in the file cabinets.
11 Maintains good communications/relationships with referral sources.
12 Assists in the Quality Improvement (QI) process within the department by making suggestions for improvement and assisting in the collection of data as needed.
13 Answers RT phone calls and pages when the RTs are not available.

Minimum Education: High School Degree or G.E.D.

 

Pref. Experience 1 year

 

Minimum Experience Up to 1 month

 

Skills: Other Must possess excellent organization skills,Good data entry and computer skills and familiarity with HME/software, Excellent interpersonal/communication skills. Problem solving capability and teamwork, Other Must possess a valid driver’s license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
