Position Summary:

48 hours/ 2 weeks

Every 3rd weekend

1 major and 1 minor holiday per year 


General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, provides professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level within an assigned unit according to established procedures, protocols and regulations. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.


Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
2 Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.
3 Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
4 Arranges for patients' ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.
5 Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
6 Administers and controls narcotics and medications.
7 Participates in pre op pt care conference, time out and post op pt care conference.
8 Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
9 Observes emotional stability of patients, expresses interest in their progress and prepares for continuing care after discharge.
10 Maintains patient records and charts to ensure an accurate record of the patient's medical treatment.
11 Maintains patient documentation.

Department Description:

The Acute Rehab Unit consists of 48 beds which include an 8 bed secure brain injury unit.  Patients who require intensive acute rehabilitation services are admitted to this unit. Click here to learn more about the WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital.

Required Skills

RN License in Pennsylvania
BSN preferred
Acute inpatient rehab preferred
A minimum of one year acute care exp. or acute rehab exp to be considered for interview
