Registered Nurse - Special Projects Nurse - PRN

Location: WellSpan Health, York, PA
Schedule: PRN/Per Diem

General Summary

Performs a variety of duties including, but not limited to, using clinical acumen to identify opportunities in practice and staff development and competencies, support of entities across the organization, process- observation, supporting system objectives, patient outreach and chart review/audit, Review of literature to support evidence based practice across the system. Works in a team model within the scope of the defined project. The hours and locations will vary dependent on the project and are as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with pandemic/endemic and Public Health Emergency needs across the organization.
  • Performs process-observation based on identified standard work and shares learning in a constructive manner with staff and leadership and supports lean methodology.
  • Provides real time identification and communication of missed opportunities or care gaps related to standards of care and nursing professional practice.
  • Prepares written and verbal reports for leadership.
  • Promotes collaboration and cooperation among providers, clinical staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data.
  • Brings known or suspected problems of under-, over-, or inappropriate utilization of resources to the attention of the appropriate leader(s).
  • Be flexible to work on a variety of projects.
  • In collaboration with the Healthcare team, reinforces health education, counseling, and advice to patients and caregivers based on the plan of care, while assessing and prioritizing patients' educational needs.
  • Performs clinical activities per protocol, policies, and best practices in place.
  • Serves as a professional mentor to GN's, GPN's, and clinical staff.

  • Prepares and maintains appropriate documentation as required.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations. Comprehends the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to the reduction of errors through the reporting of actual or potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions. Identifies opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety. Participates in safety education programs and their root cause analyses as required.
  • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessments, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required.
  • Maintains professional growth and development, including licensure, required certifications, and child abuse clearances.
  • Prepares and presents utilization data analysis as required.
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of clinical equipment and supplies.
  • Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Associates Degree In Nursing. Required or
  • Diploma Program In Nursing. Required

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of RN experience required
  • Clinical nursing roles with formal or informal leadership experience. Preferred

Licenses:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required or
  • Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required and
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer proficient (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, EPIC).
  • Customer service.
  • Clinical skills.
