The RN Rotational Program offered at York Hospital will allow you to rotate through different units based off your career interests. This option is a great way to try out different medical-surgical and specialty areas before committing to your “home” unit. Under the guidance of our mentors and preceptors, we will provide you with a comprehensive 12+ week orientation to trial various units in York Hospital. You’ll gain experience with medical, surgical, and telemetry patients. Additionally, you’ll be provided shadow opportunities in a variety of specialty and procedural areas. By the end of your orientation, we’ll have completed a matching process and place you in your mutually agreed-upon unit. Our goal is to help you find the home that fits you best. We will continue to support you with regular check-ins for several weeks and ongoing mentorship to ensure that you’ve found the right fit and your nursing passion!

Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, provides professional nursing care at the beginner practitioner level in accordance with the principles of patient and family-centered care based on the nursing process and according to the clinical standards of the hospital. Acts as a primary nurse for patients on the unit. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. May require specialized skills depending on unit assignment.
