Registered Nurse - Operating Room - Nurse Residency Program

We are looking for talented New Graduates and Experienced Nurses to join our Perioperative Nursing Team here @ WellSpan Health York Hospital.

Average resident program time is 9 mos-1 year.   Following the program, residents will assume the roll of a Perioperative RN @ WYH.

Program Description:

The OR Nurse Fellowship is designed to prepare new nursing graduates and experienced nurses who have no prior work experience in a perioperative setting to perform the roles of the registered nurse in the operating room.

This full time residency program combines unit-based training, didactic Perioperative Nursing course, and simulation training prior to entering the Operating Room.  Residents are oriented to both the RN circulator and the scrub roles. Trainees will rotate through a core group of specialties and shifts to gain an understanding of a wide variety of surgical procedures. Average resident program time is 9 mos-1 year.   Following the program, residents will assume the roll of a Perioperative RN @ WYH.

We are also a Level 1 Trauma Center with 24/7 surgical coverage in 18 operating suites which performs more than 15,000 each year in a safety-centered approach.  Patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric.  RNs are paired with an experienced preceptor (RNs and/or Surgical Technicians) and trained to work with surgeons on a variety of procedures including) * Robotic * Oncology * Vascular * Plastic & Reconstructive * Thoracic * GI * Orthopedic/Orthopedic traumas, and more.

Registered Nurse (RN) – OR New Graduate Nurse Residency Program:
 

• Licensed and eligible to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Pennsylvania at the time of hire;
• Graduate from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program preferred but not required;
• New Grads w/no experience in OR will be considered
• New Grads with Surgical Techs experience are especially valuable;
• Individuals with Vet tech experience are also excellent potential candidates.

Registered Nurse (RN) – OR Experienced Nurse Residency Program:

• At least one - two years’ experience as an RN in an acute care facility preferred. Units preferred but not limited to: Critical Care; ED; L&D; Procedural units, or general Peri-anesthesia units (Pre-op & post-op)
• Surgical Tech experience.
• BSN preferred (Associates Nurses will be considered with 1+ years of experience).
• Individuals with Vet tech experience are also excellent potential candidates.
