Registered Nurse - Central Monitoring Team Lead Nurse - Day/Evening
Part-Time (24 hours, Biweekly)

Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and Clinical Coordinators, reviews, administers, coordinates, and supports the 24/7 Central Monitoring Team (CMT). Uses advanced knowledge of telemetry, pulse oximetry, disease and human response to life threatening conditions to support monitoring technicians (MT) and direct care clinicians caring for inpatient telemetry patients. Working collaboratively with telemonitoring technology, acts as a real time clinical support for the Rapid Response Team, bedside nursing and/or physician/Advanced Practice Provider on patient conditions that require immediate attention. Supervises on-duty telemetry monitoring technicians and provides assistance and support as needed/requested, under the direction of the Nurse Manager. May provide episodic support to the Central Alert Team as requested.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates in active Monitor Tech (MT) rounding, using information to improve the patient experience and staff satisfaction, ensure accountability to hospital and department policies and standard work.
- Assist with providing an environment free of distractions and excess noise to ensure telemetry patients are monitored in an environment conducive to patient safety.
- Support and round on Monitor Techs (MT), to ensure coverage is provided for desk bound MT lunch breaks, and other scheduled and unscheduled breaks.
- Provides timely and appropriate communication of identified and related assessment to appropriate clinical staff and/or Rapid Response Team.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of evidence-based/best practice.
- Utilizes strong decision making, systems thinking and computer literacy skills in a remote practice environment, to assist in support of coordinated and timely patient care intervention.
- Follows escalation process/procedure to address real-time care concerns.
- Precepts new hire MT or other clinical staff as directed.
- Takes ownership of assigned quality audits and other performance improvement and patient safety initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience:
- 3 years
- Min Field of Expertise: Nursing experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care, or Remote Monitoring setting/role; Proven experience and competent in rhythm analysis/interpretation
- Minimum Education:
- BSN or equivalent experience, Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered
- Required Certification:
- Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN); or other Professional Certification
