Job Description:
Regional Executive Director Under the direction of the WellSpan health system Vice President of Philanthropy/Chief Development Officer and in partnership with the ECH and GSHF Foundation boards of directors, Philanthropy Regional Director plans, implements, directs and evaluates a strategic philanthropy program which generates significant financial support for the Foundations. This may include Major Gift solicitation, events, fund development, corporate giving, employee giving, selected annual giving special gift and capital campaigns. Implements donor solicitation, cultivation and stewardship events, employee giving, grateful patient and estate giving activities in accordance with system plans. Provides leadership to Philanthropy staff in the WellSpan East Region. Builds strong community relationships and enhances visibility in the community and the hospital for philanthropy. Works as one integrated philanthropy team to develop best practice philanthropic strategies, build a culture of philanthropy at WellSpan and build standard, efficient processes where appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Builds, maintains, and solicits a personal portfolio of 40-50 donors and prospective donors capable of making major and planned gifts commitments.
- Responsible to meet the fundraising objectives as established by the east region foundation boards and in support of the philanthropy team and organization goals and objectives.
- Provides Direct line leadership and support to the East Region Philanthropy team.
- Develops and implements plans to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all giving levels.
- Cultivates planned giving prospects and secures new estate giving commitments.
- Ensures financial effectiveness of all events. Evaluates ROI of events and recommends changes or adjustments.
- Recruits and educates an active and engaged foundation board
- Provides input to the WS system solicitation, cultivation and stewardship plan and ensures adherence to same.
- Provides input to the WS system budget.
- Ensures that accurate financial and donor record keeping processes are adhered.
- Follows established funding policies for approval of foundation priorities.
- Encourages the integration of the foundation within the System and within the community through communication and active involvement.
- Works collaboratively with the WS system development team to develop a common approach to fundraising and to provide system-wide services which strengthen the capacity and efficiency of development while keeping donor contact locally oriented. Implements standard work
- Responsible to follow WS system policies and to educate the boards and volunteers to same.
Common Expectations:
- Participates in planning long-term System Philanthropy goals and strategies.
- Attends events for both Foundations, and other fundraising activities as needed as well as community events that offer the opportunity to promote WellSpan and/or fundraising.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- May serve on WS system fundraising TF to evaluate and recommend system wide policy or practice that will add value to donors, improve operational efficiency or otherwise improve results.
- Maintains and follows established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Ensures that all staff is well trained, motivated, and effective in communicating the organization's needs and mission.
- Recommends staffing levels, selects, and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Continuously assesses and improves the department/ team's performance.
- Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
- Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned
- Performs other related duties as identified
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience:
- 5 - 7 years of successful development implementation including staff and volunteer leadership experience
- Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree
