Radiology Assistant - Ultrasound - Days

Full-Time Days, Monday-Friday 7:00a-3:30p

Job Description:

This position provides clerical support including, but not limited to scheduling, checking in patients, insurance verifications/authorization, and collecting payments. In addition, the Radiology Assistant will assist with laboratory and electrocardiogram services as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Admits all patients into computer while verifying all patient demographic, explaining forms and obtaining necessary signatures including patient/legal representative signatures. Confirms authorization requirements.
2. Verify accuracy of the patient’s personal and insurance information, obtaining copies of insurance cards and all necessary forms.
3. Pre-register patients for exams.
4. Works Unverified Report, Delinquent Billing Report by Error, and/or Incomplete MSP Report as directed by Radiology Management.
5. Assures the accuracy with registration QA is at 95%.
6. Completes all paperwork, lab, EKG and/or imaging, documenting all necessary information for each section.
7. Schedules patients, verifying preps and assuring patient’s understanding. Interacts professionally with the technologists to coordinate requests.
8. Ensures all requirements are met for a proper order.
9. Process payments when necessary and issue receipts.
10. Minimizes in/out time.
11. Assist technologist with paperwork; documenting histories and procedure documentation.
12. Prepares appropriate contrast dosage.
13. Reload laser camera as needed.
14. Ensure cassettes are returned to correct locations.
15. Locate Master jackets, all films and subfolders as requested.
16. Processes film loan requests, completing all steps on each loan.
17. Ability to successfully merge and transfer films.
18. Able to hang films according to radiologist’s preference.
19. Ensure the accuracy of POS payment collections.
20. Properly identifies patient using name and DOB.
21. Follows the facilities infection control practices without fail.
22. Enters all data into computer prior to delivery to the lab for testing.
23. Observes laboratory protocol regarding transport, temperature and time requirements for specimens.
24. Operates and maintains daily records for laboratory equipment.
25. Disinfects patient collection site and draws specimens into appropriate tubes, with sufficient volumes per departmental procedure.
26. Sends all pediatric venipuncture to the Norman Drive facility. Initiates communication with Education staff to resolve issues.
27. Enters required data into the system and generates complete paperwork.
28. Explains procedure to our patients in a competent caring manner.
29. Acquires and processes a quality tracing.
30. Assures the tracing is properly processed for interpretation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Experience:
  • On the job training provided
  • Preferred Experience- Phlebotomy and EKG skills
• Minimum Education:
  • High School Degree or equivalent
• Required Certification:
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within introductory period
• Physical Demands:
  • Lifting, walking, moving patients, standing for long periods of time
