Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor-Radiation Therapy, provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established Wellspan Oncology Servile Line standards and practices at a beginning or intermediate specialist skills level. Assists with CT-simulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures as required.

The hours of the facility are Monday-Friday 6:00am-5:00pm.  The selected candidate will be expected to work an on-call rotation as required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedure.
  2. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
  3. Prepares room and equipment for patient.
  4. Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, nurses, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
  5. Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
  6. Performs IGRT tumor localization procedures.
  7. Prepares patient and equipment for, and performs simulation procedures.
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program
  • Required Courses:
    • Appropriate training in radiation therapy
  • Required Certification:
    • ARRT(T) registration or registry eligible (must obtain registry within 6 months of hire) and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiation Therapist until registry obtained;
    • BLS certification required within six months of date of hire
  • Minimum Experience:
    • 0 - 12 months
