Radiation Therapist

Day Shift
Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 4:00pm
Weekend Rotation
Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor-Radiation Therapy, provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by physician according to established Wellspan Oncology Servile Line standards and practices at a beginning or intermediate specialist skills level. Assists with CT-simulation procedures and/or other treatments/procedures as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedure.
- Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc.
- Prepares room and equipment for patient.
- Reinforces recommendations given to patient by the physician, nurses, dietician, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
- Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events.
- Performs IGRT tumor localization procedures.
- Prepares patient and equipment for, and performs simulation procedures.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program
- ARRT(T) registration or registry eligible (must obtain registry within 6 months of hire) and works under the direct supervision of a Registered Radiation Therapist until registry obtained;
- BLS certification required within six months of date of hire
- Appropriate training in radiation therapy
- 0 - 12 months experience
- Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
