Position Summary:

General Summary:


Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, provides additional supervision of daily operations on assigned unit. Oversees the successful delivery of quality patient care. Coordinates with the Administrative Coordinator on patient placement. Provides direct patient care at an experienced practitioner level as needed.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Coach, mentor and role model for the team
  2. Attend first and second shift report and ensure daily management huddle is being completed
  3. First and second shift contact and task assignments
  4. 3-4 patient assignment and help with tasks as needed
  5. Increase patient and task assignment as needed based on staffing
  6. Administer medications as needed
  7. Manage the referral process for the Extended Acute Unit
  8. Manages projects as assigned by unit leadership
  9. Participates on unit-based council
  10. Assist unit in transitioning towards primary nursing
  11. Other responsibilities as assigned
  12. This position will directly supervise staff

Required Experience
  1. BSN preferred
  2. Minimum of 2-3 years inpatient psychiatric nursing experience
