Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Director-Employee Health and Safety, develops, implements and assesses the effectiveness of occupational action plans for injured/ill System employees. Provides internal workers’ compensation case management. Tracks trends and issues regarding work-related injuries. Carries leadership responsibilities in the Employee Health and Safety department inclusive, but not limited to, office staff coordination, timecard management, team coaching, training, and orientation. Participates in clinical care on occasional basis.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Communicates with injured employees and supervisors about work related injuries. Provides case management of work-related injury/illness. Liaison with third party administrator, legal representation and outside nurse case managers. Participates in workers compensation program decision making.

Tracks work-related injury/illness for trending purposes. Analyzes data and prepares appropriate reports. Maintains appropriate OSHA logs. This includes, but is not limited to, compliance with OSHA regulations. Provides quarterly and end of year statistics.

Responds to state and bureau reports on annual basis. Keeps accurate medical records on workers compensation cases.

Provides statistical input to the development and implementation of injury prevention programs. Communicates with Safety Specialists with injury patterns and accident investigation recommendations.

Develops, implements and coordinates the Alternative Duty program.

Signs off on timecards, approves PTO request and ensures proper clinical and administrative coverage for clinical offices.

Manages employee hours to ensure compliance with arrival and leave times, lunch and breaks.

Triage urgent issues from managers and staff; elevates necessary concerns to Director.

Ensures compliance with operational policies; makes recommendation for policy change and revision.

Helps to think through operational issues, makes recommendations for office flow improvement.

Provides coaching and positive dialogue among staff members.

Approves reimbursement of expense for outside services, employees, and customary charges. Reviews worers’ compensation payment reports provided by third party administrator or internal write offs for accuracy.

Facilitates staff meetings; holds ad hoc meetings in event Director is unavailable.

Orients new employees and volunteers to EH department; participates in competency review and new training.

Provides clinical office coverage by participating in immunizations, TB testing, new hire screening and on-call exposure coverage.

 

Qualifications

 

5 -10 years recent Workers’ Compensation case management.

Registration and current RN license in PA

Bachelor's Degree

OSHA reporting experience

Experience PA Workers Compensation law and case Management.
