General Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Psychiatric Technician, assists the professional staff in the care of psychiatric patients.
The Psychiatric Technician facilitates the maintenance of the therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Provides care to patients in a manner that considers safety, comfort, and the therapeutic environment.
2 Assists the team members in the care and evaluation of patients.
3 Assists patients with activities of daily living.
4 Checks patient's vital signs.
5 Charts observations on assigned patients' vital signs in legible, accurate and appropriate format following hospital and unit procedures.
6 May apply physical restraints or assist with placing a patient in seclusion under the direct supervision of the physician or
RN.
7 Facilitates educational groups and supervises recreational activities as directed by the RN.

Required Experience
  • Human services experience preferred
  • College coursework related to psychology/social work/human services or related field preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the current state of residence.  Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
