Position Summary:

General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Ambulatory Intensive Care Unit (AICU) program Medical Director, develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates the activities of the AICU program.  Manages the daily operations and supervises assigned staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1 Develops, maintains and coordinates programming and oversees daily operations.

 2 Provides direct service and back-up when short staffed.  Assists in clinical activities as a resource person as needed.  May include meeting with the patient or family in home and community settings.

 3 Acts as liaison and coordinator of services to the System and community.

 4 Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analyses and statements.

 5 Selects, trains/orients, assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

 6 Develops budgets. Ensures that program operates within budget.

 7 Develops and revises departmental policies and procedures.  Supports and enforces departmental and organizational policies as well as state and federal accreditation standards.  Supervises preparation of statistical, quality improvement/assurance reports and grant reports.

 8 Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

 9 Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.  Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.  Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).

 10 Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

 11 Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Microsoft Excel 

 

Required Experience
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Bachelor Degree
