Physician Applications Being Accepted

WellSpan Healthcare Assistance Team*


WellSpan Health is establishing the WellSpan Healthcare Assistance Team (WHAT).  This team will be an internally deployable clinical resource to augment a healthcare environment that is unable to meet the current resource demands beyond typical contingency strategies.  This includes, but is not limited to, an increase in patient volume and/or complexity as well as depletion or exhaustion of typical staffing models that routine contingency strategies are unable to mitigate. 


Position Summary/Requirements**

  • Volunteer position for Physicians to be part of a new initiative supporting our response to disaster, crisis, and other public health emergencies
  • Must be a current employee of the WellSpan Medical Group in good standing
  • Must complete and maintain required certifications (or WellSpan Health approved equivalents)
  • Successful applicants will be required to attend a minimum of two training sessions per fiscal year, at least one of which will be participation in an emergency management sponsored exercise.
  • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in your specialty, have an active license to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania and active credentials to practice within WellSpan Health.
  • Expected general requirements (required or to be completed within 1 year of joining team):
    • ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS)
    • Advanced Disaster Life Support (ADLS)
  • WellSpan Medical Group employees who are active members of the WellSpan Healthcare Assistance Team in good standing and who complete and maintain required certifications (or WellSpan Health approved equivalents, such as Emergency Medicine board certification satisfying ACLS and ATLS requirements) and training will count as fulfilling the Good Citizenship parameter.  



*This Team is not intended to meet temporary staffing needs of the organization which would normally be handled by internal staffing and/or locums tenens.
**These requirements are for participation in the WellSpan Healthcare Assistant Team only and do not replace or supersede any employer expectations/requirements that are stated or not stated in a professional services agreement or employment agreement.
