General Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the pharmacy supervisor/staff pharmacist, fills routine orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals and performs related duties.


Duties and Responsibilities:
1 Effectively trains new employees in department procedures. Takes steps to promote efficient completion of the workload, including discussing work related problems with the Technician Supervisors and recommending staffing reassignments when warranted. In the absence of a Technician Supervisor, performs duties and responsibilities of Senior Technician in Charge. These duties include but are not limited to: Reassigning staff duties to meet workload and delivery demands, identifies and provides feedback concerning workflow or personnel issues. May serve on committees as requested by supervisors.
2 Assists appropriate supervisors and pharmacists in all aspects of dispensing of medicinal and non-medicinal items.
3 Assists customers and performs technical duties as required. Make deliveries to customers per job site requirements.
4 Submits, receives and checks in orders from suppliers as needed.
5 Enters and/or retrieves data from established computer files using knowledge of various computer software applications.

Department Description:

The Pharmacy Department is committed to quality and safety. Our training program offers residents the ability to be mentored in an environment which promotes gaining experience in providing and overseeing all aspects of hosptial based pharmacy practice. Pharmacists working with the Pharmacy Department participate in providing specialist level care through our work within our Pain Team, Nutrition Support, and Anticoagulation Clinics.
Required Skills

Req Cert/Registration:    National Pharmacy Technician Certification

Required Experience

Minimum Experience:     2 years

Preferred Experience:     Special IV/Chemo training, controlled substance dispensing, Lean Leader, A3 or 5S project completion
