Pharmacogenomics-Pharmacist - Monday - Friday -Day shift
Full Time Monday - Friday 8am to 5 pm
General Summary:
The clinical pharmacogenomics (PGx) pharmacist will supervise the development, implementation and management of PGx workflows systemwide at WellSpan Health. The PGx pharmacist will be responsible for the implementation of a multi-disciplinary PGx clinic within the Precision Medicine Institute that will support all clinical PGx testing in the system. They will oversee the PGx consult services and, through collaboration with the patient’s care team, will be accountable for the safe and effective distribution of medications using pharmacogenomics information. They will recruit appropriate PGx staffing and resources and will provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and ancillary staff on their team. They will assist with identification of metrics that will provide WellSpan Health with cost-savings, formulary management, and regulatory compliance.
The PGx pharmacist will also be expected to foster independent research initiatives and collaborate with clinical and research teams to advance precision medicine and pharmacogenomics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interacts with leadership within the WellSpan Precision Medicine Executive Committee, primary care staff, and researchers to support and coordinate PGx projects, and lead clinical and administrative process redesign where applicable.
- Ensures consistency and standardization of the program in each WSH region
- Develops, maintains and updates all required documents for regulatory and/or accreditation
- Leads technology applications in the PGx space, specifically ensuring the appropriate clinical decision support tools are being integrated appropriately within the electronic health record through collaboration with Epic Information Services.
- Designs, recommends, monitors and implements patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens based on pharmacogenomic test results. Provides counseling to patients and caregivers regarding pharmacogenomic test results and medication regimens.
- Educates clinicians, residents, and students on the appropriate indications for PGx testing and the clinical applications of PGx. Create enduring educational content and materials for WellSpan Health staff and patients.
- Serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and residents where applicable and maintains appropriate credentials for these preceptorships.
- Provides response to drug information request based on relevant literature and clinical trials.
- Actively contributes to body of PGx knowledge by publishing articles in biomedical literature.
- Collaborates with other regional PGx programs to build a coalition for standardization of clinical workflows and clinical care of PGx patients within the WellSpan Health system.
- Facilitates the collection and analysis of performance measure
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Pharm D. from an accredited school of pharmacy required. Preferred completion of PGY-1 or PGY-2 years residency in pharmacogenomics or equivalent fellowship training in Pharmacogenomics.
Min Field Of Expertise Minimum 2 years work experience in Pharmacogenomics if not residency/fellowship trained
Req Cert/Registration Valid Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or eligible for reciprocity Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification preferred

Skills: Other Special knowledge of implementation science; Experience managing clinical operations for a pharmacogenomics clinic; Excellent communication and organizational skills; Must possess excellent written and verbal skills, as well as demonstrate independence and initiative; Highly proficient with relevant computer programs and software; Ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously and to effectively prioritize tasks and responsibilities; Must possess discretion and mature judgment as confidential information is routinely encountered
