Monday - Friday - Full Time Days

General Summary:

 

Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director, provides patient care and professional nursing services in

pre-, intra- and postoperative areas, normally in an outpatient setting. Assists physicians during operative procedures

and in providing care to patients. Instructs patients and their families in appropriate care.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1 Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.

2 Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.

3 Prepares the operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case.

4 Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.

5 Prepares patients preoperatively for surgical procedures.

6 Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.

7 Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.

8 Assists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges.

9 Assists in patient care related activities such as starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.

10 Administers postoperative care by monitoring status and observing for postoperative complications.

11 Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.

12 Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.

13 Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.

Consistently noted as one of the most highly utilized outpatient surgery facilities in Pennsylvania, Apple Hill Surgical Center features 10 technologically advanced surgical suites, two procedure rooms, a private preoperative area, and a spacious recovery room. Not to mention a large comfortable reception and waiting room, a patient lounge and plenty of parking.  Simply put, Apple Hill Surgical Center has been carefully designed to provide you with the most positive experience possible.

 

Located on the main level of Apple Hill Medical Center, the Surgical Center offers easy access to a host of quality outpatient services, including laboratory and x-ray. If you become a patient of Apple Hill Surgical Center, you may wish to take advantage of this convenience for your pre-operative testing.

 

Required Skills

Minimum Education:

Associate's Degree

  

Req Cert/Registration:

Registration current RN license in PA

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Required Experience
