Pediatric Leader

WellSpan Health

WellSpan Health, a large integrated health system in south central Pennsylvania, is seeking a physician with Board Certification in pediatrics or a pediatric sub-specialty.  Prior experience in a pediatric medical practice or NICU is required.  Quality assurance, utilization management and case management experience preferred. 

  Position Summary

  • Secure employment with WellSpan Medical Group, a mature multi-specialty group that employs 1,500+ providers
  • This position is a blended role; three days a week (0.6 FTE) the leader will be involved in clinical activity and two days a week (0.4 FTE) the physician will participate in leadership activities
  • 0.2 FTE Pediatric Chair at York Hospital
    • Physician shall report to the Vice President of Medical Affairs
    • Duties shall include overseeing all Pediatric Services at York Hospital
    • Responsible for administering and directing the activities of assigned personnel and review the quality, adequacy and appropriateness of services within the Pediatric Services area
    • Develop and implement departmental programs for on-going monitoring of practice, credentials review and privileges delineation, medical education and utilization review and the ongoing assessment and improvement of quality of care, treatment and services
    • Maintain continuing review and surveillance of the professional performance of all practitioners in the department who have clinical privileges and report regularly thereon to the Vice President of Medical Affairs and to the Medical Executive Committee
    • Appoint such committees as are necessary to conduct the clinical functions of the department as specified by the hospital bylaws and designate a chairman of each such committee
    • Assist in the preparation of such annual reports pertaining to the department as may be required by the Service Line, Medical Executive Committee, the Vice President of Medical Affairs, or the Board
    • Provide outstanding services to all customers; foster teamwork; and practice fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation
  • 0.2 FTE Service Line Co-Medical Director
    • Direct the medical management and quality improvement activities for inpatient pediatrics and the NICU across the system of care
    • Design and implement programs to ensure that all participating providers deliver quality, cost effective care across all settings
    • Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure effective monitoring and management of clinical interventions
    • Ensure that the clinical policies and procedures are based on the best evidence and are reviewed and revised as needed and as scheduled to be in compliance with regulatory standards
    • Promote standardization of care through the development of order sets and work pathways
    • Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Women & Children Service Line to assist with setting strategic direction measure results, resolve issues and achieve operational and financial objectives
