General Summary:


Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager or designated RN supervisor, attends patients at risk for falls and/or at risk for pulling out IV lines/tubes, in order to avoid the use of restraints. Provides simple assistance such as ambulation, simple toileting, repositioning and assistance with feeding/fluids. Participates in the provision of diversional activities such as playing cards, board games, reorientation, etc.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1 Attends patients at risk for falls and/or at risk for pulling out IV lines/tubes, in order to avoid the use of restraints.
2 Provides simple assistance such as ambulation, simple toileting, repositioning and assistance with feeding/fluids.
3 Participates in the provision of diversional activities such as playing cards, board games, reorientation, etc.

Department Description:

The Gettysburg Hospital’s emergency department features 18 private treatment rooms (13 stretcher rooms and five fast care rooms) as well as new patient amenities that include a vending area, café seating, a pediatric/special needs waiting area.


 


 

Required Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Must work cooperatively with other team members within the department 
  • Current experience in a hospital or clinical setting providing patient care and/or observation services is preferred.  May consider other relevant experience involving care of the elderly, disabled and/or in incapacitated, children, etc., as well as other community volunteer/service experience 
  • Requires the ability to successfully complete the on-the-job training
