Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor-Patient Accounts, assists in oversight of the daily operations and work activities of the Billing or Customer Service team. Acts in a supervisory role in the absence of the assigned supervisor.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a similar nature.
  2. Assists with annual performance evaluations and with the interview process. May perform audits on other staff members’ work.
  3. Reviews, reconciles and/or corrects a variety of reports.
  4. May interact with collection agencies and a variety of governmental agencies.
  5. Reviews accounts and maintains contact with third parties to ensure timely payments. May assist staff with follow up and/or resolution of accounts.
  6. Acts as a resource for business office staff, Access ED Staff and PAS IT staff.
  7. Trains new hires as well as conducting training for existing employees as needed.


  • Minimum Experience:
    • 3 – 5 years
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School or G.E.D.
  • Required Certification:
    • Certified Patient Accounts Technician (CPAT); or current certification by NAHAM or AAHAM
  • Required Courses:
    • Cross-trained in the department; training as a PAS II or Financial Caseworker II required
  • Skills:
    • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills; insurance knowledge; computer skills
