Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Coordinator – Pre-Hospital Services or Regional Manager Pre- Hospital Services and the direct voice order of the Medical Commander, responds to EMS calls and performs a variety of functions related to the care and treatment of patients suffering from urgent and emergent disease and/or injury states in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols. according to PA DOH EMS Act and scope of practice.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responds to EMS calls, observes safety policies, and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others.
  2. Prepares, hangs, monitors, and discontinues I.V. fluids.
  3. Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
  4. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
  5. Responds to emergency calls as a single Advanced Life Support Provider

 

Qualifications

  • High School or G.E.D.
  • 1 year in busy 911 system
  • Certification as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic in PA OR Pre-hospital RN Certification; BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications; Medical Command Authorization
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC); Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO); National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 – Hazardous Materials Awareness
