Job Description:

Under general supervision, plans, analyzes, designs, develops and evaluates learning technologies initiatives for the System. Creates online education for WellSpan projects. Provides analytical support of a variety of learning applications to support the business strategies, strategic vision and goals of the System. Creates, expands and/or modifies system implementations as required to support creation and maintenance of learning applications. Mentors and educates trainers, educators, clinical and non-clinical customers and/or other stakeholders of WellSpan regarding possible Learning Technologies and methodologies to supplement and provide blended learning approaches. Supports the education process and IT Infrastructure in order to enhance the use of learning technologies within Instructor-led and Online education.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. 1Creates and maintains learning technologies in support of enterprise strategies and objectives.
  2. 2Contributes to enterprise learning technologies implementations and may serve as project leader in some cases.
  3. 3Assists with defining and modifying learning technologies and approaches.
  4. 4Uses software maintenance and report writing tools as required.
  5. 5Prepares status reports on tasks assigned.
  6. 6Understands data structure modeling and applies that knowledge to generate solution for our clients.
  7. 7Works cooperatively to support implementing various Learning Technologies within the identified Learning Management System or other Learning Applications.
  8. 8Performs coding necessary to enhance or develop learning solutions through Learning Technologies.
  9. 9Assesses Learning objectives, design of instructional strategy (including advanced simulations) for online content.
  10. 10Coordinates activities related to enhancing existing learning technologies (e.g., evaluate new tools, new methodologies).
  11. Creates designs, concepts and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
  12. Assists internal customers with Help Desk calls specific to technical issues with learning technologies.
  13. Reviews final layouts and suggests improvements regarding learning technologies.
  14. Conducts ongoing evaluation of internal online courses and maintains all materials.
  15. Attends external training to evaluate online courses and learning technologies platforms.
  16. Develops training using approved authoring tools and methods.
  17. Develops, organizes and facilitates online communication with learners to enhance training.
  18. Acts as a resource for external customers to implement learning technologies within the System.

NonEssential Accountabilities:

  1. 23Continuously updates personal information/learning technology & learning application skills and knowledge.
  2. 24May participate in hiring Learning Technologies Specialists and Writers.
  3. 25Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and safety standards.
  4. 26Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned.
  5. Performs other related duties as identified.

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 5 years experience in instructor-led training and development with at least 5 years experience in learning technologies development and design
  • Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree
  • Physical Demands:
    • Occasional prolonged standing/walking
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
  • Skills:
    • Practical experience with learning technologies authoring tools (Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate, etc) and/or web-based development tools including Flash or Flash equivalent, audio components, etc. (Applicant must demonstrate proficiency with learning technologies authoring tools); Team focused and able to multi-task effectively; Strong background in adult learning theory, pedagogy, Instructional Systems Design (ISD) and Levels of Evaluation; Proficient in desktop applications, authoring software for the Web, and online moderator skills; Strong communication skills and project management skills; Knowledge of SCORM, HTML and LMS. Analytical and logical approach to solving problems. Clarity and discipline in communication skills - written and verbal. Capable of imaginative and abstract reasoning. Advanced trouble shooting skills. Self reliant and capable of independent work.
