Job Description:
Under general supervision, assists other members of the surgical team in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care. Performs a variety of tasks such as assisting with positioning of patients for procedures, care and handling of all equipment, assisting with the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies, performing clerical tasks and completing errands. The patient care encompasses all age groups focusing on the patient's care, treatment and rehabilitation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of tasks such as assisting with positioning of patients for procedures, care and handling of all equipment, assisting with the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies, performing clerical tasks and completing errands.
- Creates a safe, private environment for patient, family/significant other, visitors and members of the health care team.
- Works in a collaborative manner in addressing patient care issues maintaining open communications with the charge nurse. Supports the charge nurse in ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, cost-effective holistic patient care.
- Maintains current knowledge of technological advances within area of practice as well as in surgical services.
- 5 Performs a variety of tasks within the CSP department such as loading/unloading of the instrument washer and cart washer, restocking CSP supplies and workstations and assisting with other duties within the department as needed.
- 6 Delivers equipment and sterile supplies to the Operating Rooms. Returns unused supplies to CSP.
- 7 Maintains peel packed instrument inventory in the OR Core.
- 8 Assists with picking of supplies for surgical procedures via case cart system as assigned.
- 9 Maintains cleanliness of shelves and organized inventory of supplies and equipment in the OR Core and CSP.
- 10 Works in a collaborative manner to meet the needs of the department maintaining open communication with the CSP team lead and OR charge nurse.
- 11 Adheres to all regulatory requirements and established practices within surgical services.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education:
- High School or G.E.D.
- Required Certification:
- BLS certification within one year
- Physical Demands:
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
- Lifts supplies/equipment
