General Summary:
Under general supervision, assists other members of the surgical team in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care. Performs a variety of tasks such as, shaving and transporting patients, assisting with positioning of patient for procedure, care and handling of all equipment, assisting with the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies, performing clerical tasks and completing errands. The patient care encompasses all age groups (neonate to the elderly) focusing on the patient's care, treatment and rehabilitation.


Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Performs a variety of tasks such as, shaving and transporting patients, assisting with positioning of patient for procedure, care and handling of all equipment, assisting with the ordering, receiving, and stocking of supplies, performing clerical tasks and completing errands.
2 Creates a safe, private environment for patient, family/significant other, visitors and members of the health care team.
3 Works in a collaborative manner in addressing patient care issues maintaining open communications with the charge nurse. Supports the charge nurse in ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality, cost-effective holistic patient care.
4 Maintains current knowledge of technological advances within area of practice as well as in surgical services.

Department Description:

Wellspan Health York Hospital has 17 Main ORs with 2 Open Heart OR's who have separate team coverage.   We are a Level I Trauma Center with 24/7 staff coverage.  Our teams provide over 14,000 surgical procedures/year covering fourteen specialties using some of the world's most advanced medical equipment and navigation systems.   Our core values as defined by our staff are; integrity, respect, performance excellence and accountability for each and every patient we care for in striving to "work as one"  in the Operating Rooms.

 
 
Required Skills

HS Diploma or G.E.D.

BCLS required within 1 year

Exceptional customer/patient service and interpersonal skills

Required Experience

1 year of Nursing Assistant, EMT or patient care experience preferred

Demonstrated solid and stable work history
