Occupational Therapist II - Days

Job Description:

Under general supervision, provides occupational therapy services at an intermediate to advanced skills level to individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance performance; facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity.

The specialized outpatient clinic focuses on therapy following amputation, brain injury, concussion, spinal cord injury or stroke, as well as, patents living with various neurological conditions, vestibular, vision and movement disorders. The clinic does not treat most orthopedic diagnosis unless complicated by a neurological condition. This position will require cross-training in the inpatient and post surgical settings. There is a weekend and holiday requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Evaluates patient using evidence based evaluation techniques.
  2. Plans individualized occupational therapy program with a variety of sensorimotor, educational, recreational and social activities based on the individual’s physical capacity, intelligence level, and interests/goals.
  3. Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
  4. Coordinates occupational therapy activities in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate achievement of goals established.
  5. Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.
  6. Utilizes safe patient handling techniques for all patient transfers, lifts and positioning.
  7. Provides supervision of COTAs and Rehab Aides as required by PA practice act.
  8. Participates in mentoring of fellow staff and students as defined by clinical ladder.
  9. Performs additional administrative duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, orientation, competency training, participation in peer/performance reviews and in-services.
  10. Assists leadership team in program development and performance improvement.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program in occupational therapy 
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist; BLS certification
  • 2 - 5 years experience preferred
