General Summary: Under the general direction of, and in collaboration with the physician and NP/department Director, provides diagnosis and treatment of patients within the scope of practice as defined by all applicable Federal, State and local laws, regulations, protocols, etc. and within the individual Nurse Practitioner’s particular clinical specialty area, licensure and competency level. Performs acts of medical diagnosis or prescription of medical therapeutic or corrective measures as appropriate. As a Nurse Practitioner in this role will supervises and schedules the work of specified midlevel practitioners providing clinical services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitates communication between departmental staff, patients & Physicians.
  2. Acts as a resource, educator and consultant to staff.  Develops and evaluates standards of care and protocols as necessary. 
  3. Works with Director to provide intervention, formal counseling, corrective action plans for EH&S staff, in conjunction with WellSpan HR.
  4. Orients new EH&S staff as well as oversees their growth and development.
  5. Ensures that all EH&S staff are up to date on competencies and training as it pertains to any new technologies that have been introduced by the practice team.
  6. Develops a monthly schedule to coordinate coverage for the EH&S Department and on-call for BBP Exposures. Approves payroll, schedules PTO and CME time granted for staff members. Updates notice of that schedule to all EH&S sites.
  7. Works as a member of the EH&S team to ensure the successful completion of objectives and strategic goals. Helps foster behaviors among staff that promote effective, equitable, safe, coordinated, patient centered and efficient care for our patients. Creates and supports a culture of engagement within the team.
  8. Conducts annual performance reviews in collaboration with the Director. Assists staff with writing personal goals and objectives.
  9. Represent EH&S Department at necessary meetings.
  10. Promotes standardization of best practices, supports clinical innovations for better Provider collaboration and drives change management principles to assure successful implementation in the EH&S practice.
  11. Develops treatment plan for workers’ compensation cases and discusses proposed course of treatment WC Case Manager and TPA.
  12. Provides timely, accurate and complete documentation in the EH&S electronic medical record indicating patient status, follow-up visits, and treatment plan.
  13. Provides emotional support to patient and family as may be appropriate.
  14. Act on behalf of the Director in their absence.

The Employee Health Department provides high quality occupational health care services and consultations to WellSpan Health employees, staff, and volunteers.  The department is dedicated to providing prompt, professional, and confidential services to promote and restore good health.

 

 

Required Skills

 

 

Minimum Education:

Nurse Practitioner – Master’s Degree with national certification

Nurse Practitioner - Registration and current license as CRNP in PA; appropriate clinical specialty certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

 

 

Required Experience

 

2-3 years RN experience in Urgent Care, ED, Employee/Occupational Health or Medical/Surgical unit

3 years of Advanced Practice Clinician experience preferred in Urgent Care, ED, Employee/Occupational Health
