Located in beautiful, historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.  WellSpan Health is an integrated health system serving the communities of central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland.  The organization includes more than 1,600 employed physicians and advanced practice providers, a regional behavioral health organization, a home care organization, eight respected hospitals, approximately 20,000 employees, and more than 200 patient care locations.


About the Practice

  • Must be certified as a Nurse Anesthetist; experience preferred
  • Work with an established team of anesthesiologists and CRNAs
  • Excellent work/life balance – Monday-Friday days, no call, no holidays, no weekends
  • Successful candidate must be able to provide care to all ages
  • Non-trauma hospital with approximately 30,000 visits/year

Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Anesthesiologist, administers anesthetic agents to patients according to establishedstandards and regulations.


Duties and Responisbilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Reviews and assesses patient condition and develops anesthesia management plan in collaboration with the Anesthesiologist.
  2. Administers anesthetic agents. Calculates doses and monitors parameters.
  3. Maintains patient documentation.
  4. Responds to code/trauma to establish and maintain patient airways via intubation. Documents treatment rendered.
  5. Transports patients from surgery area to post-anesthesia recovery area. Reports patient status to physician and nurse care giver.
  6. Provides airway management training to residents, students and other staff.

NonEssential Accountabilities:

  1. Attends meetings as required, and participates on committees as requested.
  2. Performs other related duties as identified.

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient
  2. population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides
  3. direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  4. Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  5. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  6. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
  7. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement
  8. and innovation.

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 1 - 2 years
    • Req Cert/RegistrationRegistration/certification and current RN and CRNA license in PA
    • Req Course(s)/TrainingGraduation from accredited school of nurse anesthesia
    • Continuing Ed-CompetencyEarn 40 CME every 2 years to maintain certification
  • Minimum Education:
    • Master's Degree
  • Physical Demands:
    • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
    • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
