General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Manager-Medical Staff Services with a strong matrixed relationship to the Vice Presidents for Medical Affair in the region, provides administrative support services for the medical staff and medical staff officers in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following are essential job accountabilities:

1 Facilitates all aspects of credentialing for physicians.

2 Works with the Medical Staff to ensure compliance with the hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and licensing and accrediting bodies.

3 Accurately processes all initial and reappointment applications.

4 Serves as a liaison between medical staff, administration, and hospital staff.

5 Provides administrative support to elected and appointed Medical Staff Officers.

6 Provides complete applications, both initial and reappointment, to the Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee and Board of Directors for review and action.

7 Composes and disseminates correspondence from the Board to the Medical Staff related to credentialing.

8 Coordinates the orientation of new medical staff members to appropriate policies, procedures, protocols and services.

9 Coordinates the communication of information between medical staff departments and administration.

10 Schedules, coordinates and/or arranges meetings, appointments and/or facilities. Attends meetings and records minutes, as required.

11 Consults with respective services / committee chairs and hospital staff to ensure that the appropriate hospital staff act on identified issues.

12 Prioritizes and organizes work requests, reacting to urgent needs by delegating, as appropriate, and follow-up as needed.

13 Types memorandums, policies, committee minutes, manuals, letters, forms, procedures, and other general typing as directed, initiating other documents and correspondence as appropriate.

14 Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.

15 Responds to routine inquiries as desired by administration. Assists medical staff as necessary.

16 Compiles data for and prepares regularly scheduled and special reports, analyses and statements.

17 Oversees the billing, collection, and deposit of medical staff dues and maintains related accounting records.
