General Summary:

 

 


Under general supervision, collects, analyzes and processes patient medical information to ensure the completeness and accuracy of clinical documentation.

 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1 Assembles medical records and analyzes for quantitative deficiencies and assigns deficient records to appropriate providers per applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements while abiding by the Rules & Regulations set forth by the Medical Staff.
2 Collects, prepares and scans patient records according to established procedures.
3 Prepares and distributes documents such as physician reminder notices, suspension lists, and/or other controlling documents.
4 Retrieves records from various areas for chart processing. Retrieves patient records for continuation of care, Health Information Management (HIM) operations, and record requests.
5 Performs release of information functions for continuation of care requests while protecting the security of the medical record and maintaining confidentiality.
6 Performs related clerical duties such as photocopying, scanning, answering telephones, setting up/maintaining computer files, reporting productivity data, and distributing incoming mail and reports, operates a PC, scanner, copier and other office equipment.

 

Department Description:

The Medical Records Department at Gettysburg Hospital is responsible for maintaining patient records in a standardized and professional manner in order to protect patient confidentiality while giving necessary access to providers in order to promote quality care.
Required Experience

Minimum Education:               

 

High School or G.E.D.

                                              

 

Minimum Experience:           

 

6 - 12 months in the medical records field. 

                                              

 

Preferred Course(s)/Training:       

 

Working knowledge of Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite products. Course in medical terminology; coursework in anatomy and physiology
