General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Supply Chain Innovation and Operational Support, responsible for the implementation and continuous development of a supply chain risk management program, identification and assessment of supply chain vulnerability and risk, and the initiation of risk action/business continuity plans when appropriate.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Design, implement, develop, and maintain a comprehensive Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) program:
    1. Vulnerability analysis to identify potential supply chain risk areas, both internal and external.
    2. Continuous global event monitoring of WellSpan supplier base for potential supply chain risks, including but not limited to:
      1. Tier 1 Suppliers (suppliers servicing WellSpan directly)
      2. Tier 2, 3, 4, etc., Suppliers (all raw materials suppliers supporting Tier 1 suppliers)
    3. Supplier collaboration protocols addressing supply chain disruption identification, communication and action or business continuity plan implementation.
    4. Scorecards identifying risk levels associated with individual suppliers.
    5. Collaboration across supply chain functional areas and other organizational units to ensure risks are disseminated, coordinated, and mitigated.
    6. Action or business continuity plans for each supplier, supply category or supply to address each critical risk scenario.
    7. Risk policy and protocols for procurement contract terms and on-boarding of new suppliers.
    8. Timely update and maintenance of all supplier information and documentation, process documentation, work instructions and training materials.
    9. Education, coordination, and administration of the SCRM program across organizational units.


  1. Participate in routine meetings with primary suppliers to address risk performance indicators.


  1. Provide key program metrics to leadership.


  1. Maintain collaborative relationships with any outsourced service providers.


  1. Continually search for innovative ideas, concepts, software, etc., to improve the WellSpan SCRM and further protect and secure the healthcare supply chain.




Minimum Education:          Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant experience in lieu of the degree.


Preferred Education:       Master’s Degree


Minimum Experience:      Five years of experience focused on supply chain innovation, research and/or analytics.  Requires strong skills in team leadership, analytics, problem-solving and oral and written communications.  Must have expertise in the use of various computer applications, including, but not limited to Microsoft Office.  Must be able to demonstrate professional integrity, manage issues through to resolution, multitask and complete difficult assignments within target deadlines. 


Pref Cert/Registration:    Any related to field(s) of expertise.


Other:                           Active membership, participation and/or certification in one or more professional organizations related to Supply Chain Risk Management, Business Continuity, etc.
