Position Summary:

General Summary:

 

Responsible for the management of oncology services and for the supervision of administrative, operational and fiscal functions to ensure successful operation of the cancer center. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

 1 Is knowledgeable of the strategic plan and advocates the goals of the organization.

 2 Oversees departmental programmatic components, ensuring adherence to accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements.

 3 Prepares annual capital and operating budgets.  Monitors expenditures to ensure efficiencies within the departments of the cancer center. 

 4 Evaluates the quality of patient care by conducting patient rounds, patient interviews, direct staff observation and review of nursing documentation. 

 5 Oversees oncology support staff and services. 

 6 Works collaboratively with patients, employees, physicians, and organization leadership to resolve problems and issues.  Fosters positive working relationships.

 7 Manages, facilitates and develops processes that focus on employee and patient satisfaction. 

 8 Ensures the efficient, economic and quality performance of the assigned service line and/or departments/areas of responsibility to support or provide quality health care services.

 9 Ensure compliance with contracts including equipment, service, and maintenance

 10   Communicates departmental problems and / or patient care related issues to the Senior Director for Nursing Services and / or the VP of Nursing.

 11 Serves as oncology expert on department and hospital committees and projects.

Required Skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Health Administration 

Minimum of 3 years clinical oncology experience

Evidence of strong leadership capabilities

Solid oncology background and a strong understanding of all components of an oncology program

Minimum of 3 years management experience in an acute care hospital; cancer care background 

Experience in developing and/or managing clinical programs
