General Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Senior Director, actively participates in planning and implementing a strategic community health and wellness program to support the System’s nonprofit mission of improving health through exceptional care for all, lifelong wellness and healthy communities.  Manages and coordinates health education and wellness programming including program operations, marketing, staffing and special projects. Establishes strong working relationships within the organization and the local communities to work collaboratively to understand, plan for and improve the health status of diverse populations in a meaningful way.  Manages the daily activities of the region’s (York City/County) Community Health staff.  


Duties and Responsibilities:


   1   Works collaboratively with community partners and WellSpan’s Community Health and Engagement leadership team to complete the community health assessment and improvement plan.

   2   Contributes to the planning, evaluation and reporting of community benefit data for the region, including but not limited to, assisting in the development of annual community benefit objectives and outcome measures.

   3   Manages the regional team responsible for planning, implementation and evaluation of local community health and wellness programs and guides the development of resources and services that address the health needs of diverse population groups, including but not limited to: community at-large; disparate populations; employers and; patients.

   4   Promotes support for the system in the community and identifies and builds positive relationships with potential community health partners.

   5   Serves as a liaison to local organizations.  Convenes and participates with community stakeholders in addressing shared community health priorities.

   6   Promotes the importance of wellness, community outreach, partnership development and collaborative planning with public and private stakeholders, serving as a resource to other departments/service lines/entities.

   7   Identifies and develops grant opportunities in conjunction with WellSpan Philanthropy.  Prepares appropriate applications and reports.

   8   Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.

   9   Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions.  Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).

10   Assists in developing goals and objectives to meet the strategic/business objectives for areas of responsibility.

11   Develops budget(s) for the department/unit/entity and allocates funds within budget(s) to accomplish objectives.  Monitors variance against budget(s).

12   Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operation, and which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.

13  Serves as a positive role model.  Set service goals and expectations for the site(s).  Implements service initiatives that support WellSpan service philosophies.

14   Maintains professional growth and development.

15   Compiles and analyzes data for special reports to assess operational and financial performance as well as identify and correct trends that negatively impact the practice.

16   Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
