Job Description:

Under general supervision, manages all facets of Food Service operations including menu planning, budgeting, inventory, equipment maintenance and staff supervision.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Establishes policy and plans and directs the activities of the Food Services Department for patients, employees and visitors to ensure delivery of quality nutrition and food services.
  2. Develops and implements policies, procedures and methods for food production, in consultation with administrative staff, to achieve high quality cost-effective meals.
  3. Provides overall guidance and direction in dietary planning and planning of daily menus including regular and therapeutic diets.
  4. Ensures that food preparation areas are maintained in accordance with hospital policy and sanitation standards.
  5. Oversees the procurement of foods and supplies from vendors and suppliers.
  6. Inspects food storage and directs sanitary maintenance of kitchen and storage facilities.
  7. Ensures that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.
  8. Devises best methods of storage and presentation of food products.
  9. Responsible for the care and maintenance of department/entity equipment and supplies.
 

NonEssential Accountabilities:

  1. Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
  2. Attends meetings as required.
  3. Performs other related duties as identified.
 

Common Expectations:

  1. Selects, trains/orients, assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  2. Develops and recommends department/entity operating budget and ensures that department/entity operates within budget.
  3. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  4. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
  5. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.The following are nonessential job accountabilities for purposes:
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 2 - 3 years
  • Minimum Education:
    • Associate's Degree
  • Minimum Field Of Expertise:
    • Foods, nutrition or food service admin including cafeteria related admin/supervisory
    • techniques
  • Physical Demands:
    • Moderate physical effort (lift/carry 11 to 25 lbs)
    • Occasional prolonged standing/walking
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
  • Skills:
    • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills; Basic computer skillls
