Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the department supervisor and the direction of the Radiologist, performs routine, special mammography procedures and bone densitometry exams according to established practices and procedures.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs general radiography, mammography and bone densitometry studies; obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
  2. Under the direction of a Team Leader, is responsible for assisting in the training of other technologists, certifying that techs meet competencies.
  3. Maintains department mammography and bone densitometry quality assurance program.
  4. Positions patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure.
  5. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
  6. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  7. Performs the duties of Radiographer, mammographer and CBDT as needed.
  8. Positions patients safely while performing scans of the spine, hip and /or forearm.
  9. Prepares, maintains and scans appropriate documentation required by the department.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited program in radiologic technology; training in mammography and bone densitometry procedures
  • ARRT with mammography certification; ISCD CBDT certification
  • 3 - 5 years experience required
