Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the department supervisor and the direction of the Radiologist, performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, or routine screening and at least two other modalities such as x-ray, EKG or bone densitometry, or performs screening mammography in a mobile environment according to established practices and procedures.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, or routine screening and at least two other modalities such as x-ray, EKG or bone densitometry, or performs screening mammography in a mobile environment. Obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. If performing bone densitometry exams, positions patients safely while performing scans of the spine, hip and/or forearm.
  2. Under the direction of a Team Leader, is responsible for assisting in the training of other technologists, certifying that techs meet competencies.
  3. Maintains department quality assurance programs.
  4. Positions patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedures.
  5. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
  6. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  7. Prepares, maintains and scans appropriate documentation required by the department.
 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 3 - 5 years
  • Minimum Education:
    • Associate's Degree
  • Required Certification:
    • ARRT with mammography certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Preferred Certification:
    • ISCD CBDT certification if required to perform bone densitometry exams
  • Required Courses:
    • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in mammography procedures
  • Physical Demands:
    • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
    • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
