Position Summary:

General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer WYH, supports the mission of WellSpan, working as one to improve health through exceptional care for all, lifelong wellness and healthy communities. Provides oversight of the Magnet Program and implementation of creative systems, processes, shared decision making and clinical practices that improve patient care delivery. Responsible for ensuring the Magnet framework and essential domains are enculturated and hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and consultation with Leadership. Coordinates all aspects of the ANCC Magnet application, annual reports and re-designation process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Coordinates efforts to achieve and maintain Magnet Hospital designation.
2 Conducts gap analysis for evidence of the Magnet Model components and works closely with leadership to formulate plans to close the gaps in performance.
3 Maintains a spirit of inquiry using nursing evidence-based practice findings and research methodologies to improve the care delivered to patients.
4 Leads education for staff and Magnet Champions on key initiatives and Magnet principles, standards and expectations.
5 Responsible for fostering innovation and excellence in nursing. Responsible for ensuring the Magnet framework is hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and consultation with clinical team members and Leadership.
6 Responsible for fostering an environment of shared governance and shared decision making; ensures shared decision-making structure is in place at the hospital and unit level. Participates on WSH system level shared decision-making councils.
7 Coordinates and facilitates Magnet Councils.
8 Acts as a resource and advisor for the shared decision-making councils, coordinating an assessment of Magnet readiness gap analysis, submitting application for Magnet Recognition, verifying that all requirements are met and designing and implementing processes to maintain and sustain Magnet designation.
9 Manages performance requirements on an ongoing basis and for re-application.
10 Facilitates and oversees the preparation of documentation, policies, research and informal sessions relative to maintaining Magnet status.
11 Oversees collection of key nursing sensitive indicators and outcomes and develops all reports and demographics for submission to the ANCC Magnet Office.
12 Maintains expert knowledge of current Magnet requirements and ensures organizational awareness and success.
13 Functions as primary liaison with Magnet Program Office.
14 Engages administration, physicians, staff and all interprofessional partners in Magnet site visit activities and preparedness.
15 Coordinates and supports other activities related to professional nursing practice and care innovation as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.

16 Partners with all nurse leaders to ensure focus on exemplary professional practice, quality, safety and patient care outcomes.
17 Provides direction and supervision to the Quality and Business Analysts in the Nursing Excellence and Innovation center.

Required Skills

RN license in Pennsylvania

Master's or Doctorate degree or BSN with active pursuit of Master's degree

Project Management

Required Experience

At least 5 years experience in nursing

Experience working in a Magnet recognized hospital

At least 3 years of experience in management or an administrative role required.

Prefer experience as a Magnet program director or in the preparation of a Magnet document strongly preferred
