Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the department supervisor and the direction of the Radiologist, performs routine and MRI specialized advanced skill level procedures. Performs procedures to produce magnetic resonance (MR) images of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures. Performs duties as on call technologist, having the ability to perform MRI exams on all scanners within the organization. Trains new staff. Passed the MRI advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs MR imaging studies; obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
  2. Functions at a specialized advanced level performing a minimum of two (2) advanced skills specialty exams (breast biopsy, prostate biopsy, cardiac imaging, spectroscopy) and/or able to perform MRI exams on all scanners within the organization.
  3. Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
  4. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  5. Positions and transfers patients comfortably.
  6. Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices MRI safety procedures.
  7. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree from an acredited program in Radiologic technology and training in MRI procedures; has passed the MR advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT.
  • ARRT; Must have MRI certification; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • 4 years of experience
