Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the department supervisor and under the direction of the Cardiologist, performs routine and specialized CT radiographic procedures at an advanced skills level. Performs procedures to produce computerized tomographic images of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs CT Scan Radiology studies; obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns.
  2. Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately.
  3. Under the direction of Advanced CT Coordinator, is responsible for training staff technicians/technologists in new protocols and procedures, and certify individuals perform at an adequate level of competency.
  4. Under the direction of department supervisor, is responsible for the orientation of new employees to the department
  5. Works with Medical Director and Advanced CT coordinator to develop and maintain protocols for standardizing imaging.
  6. Under the directions of the department supervisor, is responsible for helping the staffing schedule.
  7. Maintains department quality assurance program.
  8. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  9. Positions and transfers patients comfortably.
  10. Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures.
  11. Prepares and maintains electronic documentation as required by the profession and the department.
  12. Performs the duties of Radiographer as needed.
 

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 5 years
  • Minimum Education:
    • Associate's Degree
  • Required Certification:
    • CT Registry required
  • Required Courses:
    • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in computer tomography procedures
  • Physical Demands:
    • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
    • Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
