General Summary:
Biomed Intern, under general direction, the program is designed to provide qualified Graduate Level students with exposure to the Healthcare Market in South Central Pennsylvania and project experience in a large, integrated healthcare delivery system. The internship will be project based, with projects being selected by WellSpan leadership prior to internship start. Opportunities will be arranged for the student to learn about all aspects of healthcare delivery. At the end of the program, Interns will have the opportunity to present their projects to senior leaders in the Health System. The position will run from May through August.


Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential jobs:
1 Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with management and staff throughout the Hospital and the System.
2 Applies process improvement principles and quality improvement tools and techniques to identified processes/systems/ tasks.
3 Provides regular updates to appropriate members of the entity management team regarding progress and barriers.
4 Applies analytical methods for problem solving and operations improvement.
5 Develops and provides presentations/deliverables for projects.
6 Participates in policy and procedure and Business Model development.

Department Description:

The BioMedical Department at WellSpan Health's primary responsibilites are to adjust, install, maintain, repair and provide technical support for biomedical equipment. It is our responsibility to evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of equipment in all WellSpan facilities. Some examples of equipment that our department is responsible for include:

Various models of Infusion pumps
Service and repair both mono and bi-phasic defibrillators
Enterprise-wide patient monitoring system
A wide variety of surgical lasers
All operating room equipment, heart lung bypass unit and the anesthesia machines
Hemodialysis equipment
Stretchers and Beds for all areas of the hospital
Imaging modalities including first pass repair on MRI and CAT Scanners.
We also service general x-ray equipment, ultrasound machines, mammography and film processors.

Responsible for attaching passive tracking equipment and verifying asset already in medical equipment database across WellSpan sites.
