Position Summary:

 

General Summary:


Under the general supervision of the Senior Director-Infection Control Program, supports infection prevention and control activities for the System. Coordinates functions of the infection prevention department to include but not limited to data and report management. An expert user of the National Healthcare Safety Network and independently ensures complete and accurate data entry via manual and automated processes. Through report gathering ensures accuracy of data and provides to various members of the WSH team for quality monitoring an improvement collaboration. Supervises temporary duty staff as well as the Corporate Patent Safety Coordinator in providing mandatory patient safety notifications. Coordinates various aspects of day to day operations required for a successful infection prevention program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinates day to day operations of the infection prevention department
Coordinates data entry and reporting utilizing the National Healthcare Safety Network
Coordinates Lean Management for department with use of the virtual huddle board
Prepares agenda and reports for the Infection Control Committee for all acute care facilities
Reviews reported infections and oversees the generation patient notification letters IAW Act 13 and Act 52
Supervises temporary staff when assigned
Coordinates special projects and prepares reports and records as directed
Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving environment and is able to complete projects in a timely and dependable manner
Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops
Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and guidelines, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards
Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating education programs for staff and students, and educational resources for patients and families
Handles confidential information in a discreet manner and files confidential information appropriately
Triages Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) on construction projects
Supports director with time sheet management database (KRONOS) on a weekly basis
Supports director with departmental budget in addition to ordering for Corporate Infection Control
Performs various clerical duties for Infection Control as directed including but not limited to: sends notices and arranges for meetings, types agendas and minutes; answers the telephone; takes messages and communicates messages appropriately

 

Required Skills

 

Associate Degree

Preferred Education              Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare Related field

Minimum Experience            3-5 years in a healthcare environment
