Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor-Housekeeping, performs a variety of general and specialized cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the hospital. Assists in housekeeping department as needed to lift, move and relocate furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Buffs, strips, waxes and polishes floors.
- Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
- Moves, removes, and relocates furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc. as directed.
- Shampoos rugs and furniture. Cleans vents, fans and other equipment using vacuum machines.
- Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers and vacuums.
- Sets up chairs and tables, etc. for special events and folds and stores them after the event.
- Moves large items in and out of storage.
- Performs custodial/housekeeping duties as assigned when not involved in moving projects.
- Assists in hanging drapes and dividers and takes them down for cleaning.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience:
- 3 - 6 months
- Minimum Education:
- Ability to read, write, understand and speak English at a level which enables the individual to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job
- Physical Demands:
- Heavy physical effort (lift/carry 26 to 50 lbs)
- Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
- Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
