Job Description:

Under supervision of a certified Speech/Language Pathologist as per ASHA regulations as referenced at website: evaluates and treats patients with speech, language, cognitive, hearing and swallowing disorders according to the principles and practices of speech therapy at an entry level. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Examines, diagnoses and provides therapeutic intervention for patients with speech, language, cognitive, hearing, and swallowing disorders.
  2. Evaluates and treats receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, cognition, articulation and swallowing skills and regularly reports on patient's progress and goals to other members of the rehabilitative team in order to better coordinate therapeutic interventions.
  3. Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.
  4. Coordinates speech language pathology treatment collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate progress toward and achievement of established goals.
  5. Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in speech language pathology techniques and objectives.
  6. Utilizes safe patient handling techniques for all patient positioning.
  7. Delegates appropriate tasks to Rehabilitation Medicine Technicians as needed.


  • Master's Degree from an accredited program in speech language pathology
  • Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist; BLS certification
  • Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Entry-Level experience 
  • Student affiliation in a hospital setting preferred
