Full Time Day Shift (80 hours bi-weekly)

  • Opportunity to work with an excellent staff that includes a genetic counselor with 5+ years' expereince, administrative assistant, and genetic counselor extender
  • Opportunity to work remotely and utilize telemedicine capabilities on a PRN basis
  • Receive reimbursement for conferences, CEU's, and maintenance fees for licensing/certification
  • Be instrumental in growing the program by extending our services to other WellSpan locations, education of providers and the community, and create high risk programs.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, provides genetic counseling to high risk patients and their families.

Duties and Responisbilities

  1. In cooperation with the physician, provides oncologic genetic counseling to high risk patients and their families.
  2. Investigates family history, interprets information concerning genetic disorders, explains risks inherent to discovered genetic abnormalities and pedigree analysis.
  3. Provides crisis intervention regarding results of genetic testingServes as an educational resource on genetics and genetic counseling.
  4. Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department
  5. Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  6. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  7. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
  8. Schedules and monitors appointments.
  9. Attends meetings as required.
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience:
    • 1 - 2 years (new graduates will be considered)
    • Min Field Of Expertise: Genetic counseling
    • Req Cert/RegistrationCertification with the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC); Current Pennsylvania Genetic Counselor License; FBI/Act 73 Child Abuse Clearance, PA Child Line Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check
  • Minimum Education:
    • Master's Degree from an accredited genetic counseling training program
  • Requirements:
