Medical Director-Gastroenterology

Location: WellSpan Medical Group, York, PA
Schedule: Full Time

General Summary

Provides day-to-day medical leadership for Gastroenterology Services, its physicians, advanced practice providers, staff and patients. In collaboration with the Medical Group and Medicine Service Line Administration, Physician will review quality, adequacy, and appropriateness of services within the department.

WellSpan Medical Group (WMG) is seeking a Physician Leader for our Digestive Health Division. Minimum education required: MD or DO plus completion of a residency training program in Internal Medicine and completion of a fellowship training program in Gastroenterology. He or she must also be Board Certified/Board Eligible.

Position Highlights:

  • Lead 30+ physicians and 20+ advanced practice providers
  • Promote teamwork and actively participate in the growth of GI services
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight
  • Ensure patient satisfaction in all areas of patient care delivery
  • Offer guidance in the development of treatment protocols
  • Deliver direct patient care as a member of WellSpan's GI team
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives
  • Work cooperatively/supportively with WMG, the Medicine Service Line and WellSpan entity leadership teams
  • Attend administrative staff meetings

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required

Licenses:

  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required

Courses and Training:

  • Board Certification (and maintenance thereof) in Gastroenterology Upon Hire Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communications skills
  • Experience in healthcare administration
  • Proven managerial skills
