Job Description:

Under general supervision, coordinates personnel and activities of the kitchen and cafeteria service areas and the delivery of food to the patient floors. Implements established procedures and methods for kitchen and cafeteria service units.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinates entire cafeteria operation to ensure that standards of quality, hygiene, and efficiency are met.
  2. Coordinates tray preparation and delivery to patients, nourishments, supply and post-meal clean up to ensure that standards of quality, hygiene and efficiency are met.
  3. Assesses requirements to avoid over/under production of foods, especially short order items.
  4. Stores and maintains prepared and partially prepared foods in optimum condition until served. Devises best methods of storage and presentation.
  5. Meets with counter personnel and cashiers to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures regarding menus, portioning, prices and attractive presentation of food items.
  6. Coordinates with Chef production of food items for cafeteria services.
  7. Coordinates main kitchen production for a variety of catered services; arranges staffing
  8. Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
  9. Attends meetings as required, and participates on committees as requested.
  10. Performs other related duties as identified.

  2. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  3. Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
  4. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.



  • Minimum Experience:
    • 6 - 12 months
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School or G.E.D.
  • Minimum Field Of Expertise:
    • Knowledge of food preparation and service; record keeping
  • Physical Demands:
    • Moderate physical effort (lift/carry 11 to 25 lbs)
    • Frequent prolonged standing/walking
    • Lifts supplies/equipment
