Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Director-Infection Control Program, supports infection prevention and control activities for the System. Manages various aspects of day to day operations required for a successful infection prevention program.


Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Accountabilities:

  1. Collects and analyzes data related to infection prevention and control.
  2. Reviews medical records and abstracts data for the purpose of monitoring quality of cares as it relates to infection prevention.
  3. Prepares agenda and reports for the Infection Control Committee.
  4. Performs various clerical duties for Infection Control as directed including but not limited to: sends notices and arranges for meetings, etc; types agendas and minutes; answers the telephone, take messages and communicates messages appropriately.
  5. Handles confidential information in a discreet manner and files confidential information appropriately.
  6. Reviews reported infections and generates patient notification letters IAW Act 13 and Act 52.
  7. Coordinates special projects as directed and prepares reports and records as directed.
  8. Promotes and contributes to a positive, problem-solving environment and is able to complete projects in a timely and dependable manner.
  9. Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and guidelines, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  10. Enhances professional growth and development of self and others through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
  11. Assists in developing, implementing and evaluating education programs for staff and students, and educational resources for patients and families.
  12. Represents department at Environment of Care Rounds.
  13. Performs Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) on construction projects.
  14. Supports director with time sheet management database (KRONOS) on a weekly basis.
  15. Supports director with departmental budget in addition to ordering Corporate Infection Control.


  • Minimum Experience:
    • 1-2 years Healthcare Related field
  • Minimum Education:
    • Associate’s Degree
  • Preferred Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Related field
  • Required Certification:
    • Registration with National and local APIC Chapter within 180 days of hire
