Job Description:

Under the direction of the WellSpan Medical Group (WMG) Regional Vice President of Operations, provides leadership and oversight to WMG practices to ensure patient centered delivery of affordable, effective quality health care services. Responsible for overall practice operations, employee engagement, budgeting and financial performance, and supply chain. Performs a variety of leadership duties including participating in strategic planning and implementation, planning and implementing changes and improvements that affect multiple practices or WMG overall.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Participates in establishment of the operating plan and serves as owner of specific initiatives. Develops implementation plan and process, communicates with peers and managers, and is responsible for tracking progress and ensuring understanding, effort and progress toward achieving the defined outcome.

Coordinates with other areas of WMG (e.g., Quality & Innovation, centralized services, billing) to ensure alignment of communication and operations.

Promotes positive inter-departmental relationships and system cooperation, representing WMG on committees as assigned or offered.

Establishes and leads WMG workgroups/committees as needed. Communicates goals, plans, activities and progress with Operational and Clinical leadership across WMG. Ensures spread of learning and improvement as appropriate.

Applies principles of Lean Daily Management System (LDMS) and performance improvement to optimize practice operations.

Responsible for financial performance of assigned areas, including budget, revenue cycle, and expense control. Supports practice leadership to achieve budget and ensure compliance with regulations, billing, and collection policies.

Reviews monthly productivity and financial reports and monitors activity. Identifies trends and acts accordingly to assist practice leadership in correcting those trends that negatively affect practice performance. Identifies areas where resources may be used more effectively and efficiently and makes recommendations as to where staff and providers may fit more appropriately within the organization. Continuously assesses and recommends opportunities for improvement, then works with appropriate parties to address.

Works collaboratively with Physician leadership and Clinical leadership to assure effective two-way communication between physicians, APCs, staff, and administration. Demonstrates a willingness to provide information and assistance. Actively communicates with the provider workforce to ensure that they are informed and appropriately involved in operational changes.

Communicates operational issues that need WMG Senior leadership support for resolution in a timely and effective manner. Effectively communicates to allow information to flow freely to support a well-informed workforce.

Coordinates with other members of WMG Operations leadership in the development of Practice Manager annual performance goals and objectives to ensure they align with the organization’s mission and vision.

In collaboration with WMG Operations leadership, identifies provider staffing needs. Actively participates in the recruitment, on-boarding and orientation of new providers.

Provides leadership to new facility design and renovation projects, using designs that will increase provider efficiency and provide a positive patient experience. Leads the integration of newly acquired practices into WMG.

 

Qualifications

At least five years previous management experience; demonstrated leadership abilities in program development; strong customer service and communication skills; budget and clinical background

Bachelor’s Degree

Medical Group experience in a physician practice with experience in the management of practices with multiple locations

Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills

Must possess a valid driver’s license in the current state of residence.  Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
